Ferydoon Khoee, a spokesman for the new Iranian Democratic party's central committee, told a news conference that group membership would be announced at a rally on the Washington Monument grounds Aug. 31.
Khoee, who said a shadow government is being prepared, opposed Shah Mohammed Reza Pahlavi's policies as well as Khomeini's. He left Iran in 1968 and was granted political asylum in the U.S. "GIVEN THE extremely and increasingly tenuous situation of Khomeini's regime and the loss of support for his government among Iranians in Iran and abroad even among those who previously supported him, the Iranian Democratic Party will move immediately to set up offices in Washington, D.C., Houston, Los Angeles and New York, as well as in Europe," he said. Khoee said there are more than million Iranians in the U.S. The party also plans to establish an underground, shortwave radio network throughout Iran to keep the Iranian people informed of party plans as they evolve.

Indiantown Gap resettlement center.
Pennsylvania state police, the U.S. State Department and the FBI all indicated another Cuban refugee may have been involved in the death of Manual Rodriguez, 19. Dr. William Bush, Dauphin County coroner, said Rodriquez apparently died of "massive head contusions" after he was apparently struck with "a nightstick or blunt object" by a member of the center's unofficial Cuban security force, which was trying to help quell the Aug. 5 disturbances.
Rodriguez was pronounced dead at Milton S. Hershey Medical Center in Hershey at 11 a.m. yesterday. A State Department spokesman said the disturbances included scuffles among Cubans as well as between Cubans and police guards. The violence resulted in injuries to 19 military policemen and 56 Cubans.
